“You go to the dentist in Mexico?!”

Hello! This is Dr. Nestor Marquez, from Grace Dental Studio & Co., in Los Algodones, B.C., Mexico. I’ve been searching for a mode of communication, with all of you, when, out of the blue, I remembered that writing (and poetry) was once a very important part of my life. So, here we go!

I have a thousand reasons for writing to you, but my main desire is to communicate with you, the reader (and perhaps my future patient), some of the benefits of choosing Los Algodones, B.C., Mexico for your dental care, while, at the same time, alleviating any apprehensions or concerns that you may have about receiving oral healthcare in Mexico.

As a dental professional, when I began my practice, I remember thinking to myself, “Dentistry in the U.S. must be more advanced. EVERYTHING is more advanced and innovative in the U.S., right?” The answer to my own musing was, “Well, no, not necessarily.” As I began working daily, as a dental professional, and continuing my education, as such, I realized that my professors and colleagues, regardless of which country they practice and teach in, all maintain the highest levels of knowledge, innovation, expertise and professionalism. Additionally, I have found that many American dentists often times, take courses with and/or study under Brazilian, Mexican, European, and Columbian doctors and dentists, just to name a few. The idea is that you can never have too much information. You can never be exposed to too much innovation. And, you should never stop learning new ideas. A knowledgeable dental professional, who has had exposure to a variety of perspectives and innovative ideas, regarding oral health, is a great asset and resourceful tool for the patient seeking oral healthcare.

“Will I receive lower quality care in Mexico?”

Although, this question is quite common, the answer is a resounding, “Absolutely not!” You can expect to receive the same quality of care, or above, in Mexico that you have come to expect to in the U.S. Of course, as with any healthcare treatment, you should do an adequate amount of research, ahead of time, on any clinic that you plan to visit. The better clinics will typically have good, easy-to-find online patient reviews.

Things to look for and consider:

  • Clinic and Provider Reviews
  • Clean, Well-maintained Facilities and Staff
  • Bilingual Provider and Staff (there should be an adequate level of communication between patient, staff, and provider so as to minimize the chances of miscommunication regarding any procedures. You will feel more comfortable when you understand the procedural explanations that your provider gives you.)
  • Inviting Atmosphere and Hospitable Staff/Providers
  • Honesty
  • Provider Warranty (procedures, crowns, implants, etc)
  • Clear Cost Explanations and Payment Expectations
  • Clean, Well-maintained Facilities and Staff

If you, like many of our patients, are visiting us from Canada, the U.S., or some other beautiful country, do your research, before you visit. Don’t, necessarily, walk into the first dental clinic you see, once you cross the border. Do your homework so that you are better equipped to make an informed decision. Feel free to stop by our office, with any questions you may have, while selecting a clinic or making oral healthcare decisions. There are seemingly endless dental clinic choices, in a place like Los Algodones…literally, a clinic on every corner, which pushes each dental professional to excel in oral healthcare. “BEST DENTIST IN ALGODONES,” is a title that each of us dentists strives to achieve. This raises the bar for our practice at Grace Dental Studio & Co., as we strive for excellence in everything that we do.
